Human Vanity

This post reminds me something...Why the humans need always to boost their ego to show that "they know"? Is not possible simply to do a normal link with the real person who did this compilation instead of using even my logo but changing the name? Of course, the "Música para reuniones secretas. vol I" is the 7'' from underground compilation, that this guy decided to be HIS compilation. Yes there's the "thanks to", but what's the use?

Lately i started to be totally fade up of a lot of persons, also downloaders/users of my blog.

I will reprise a topic that i also used on MW forum

With my blog, i just want to promote culture, and in this case, musical culture. This is what i do anyway in my job as journalist, reviewing famous or unknown albums, doing interviews to Vince Clarke or to Humour Malade, just to say 2 estreme positions.

In the r
ipping there are at least 2 negative effects. First, The ripping is increasing day by day the prices of records .. 5 / 6 years ago bands as the Factory or Schleimer K, just to do two examples, where not so "famous" as now, and it was possible to buy them for a normal price, in fact i did in the past, buying for a kind of nothing records that now r is nearly impossible even to find. Second, a new generation of so called 'experts' are born. They just download some data files from internet (that we call mp3) and they think they know all about music, not even buying the records when are out, not supporting the good labels as Annalogue, Minimal Wave, Brouillard Definitif and the others.

In fact another point that i would like to clarify is that for me is very important to NOT RIP the things that r still available to buy (in stock) from the Labels we all like. They do a great and difficoult job, with a small quantity of copies, they simply have to survive to print other things.

I dont know, maybe i'm too much 'extreme' and i pay attention to things that are not so important, but at least my passion is real and i feel it on my skin every day..

Hello

I have enjoyed your blog and the music I've discovered from it + the interest you inspire with the context in your review. This is music I have no other way of hearing. I live in Australia, there's a "music industry" that thinks I need only hear pop music sung in the English language, released in the past six weeks and pitched at the interests of a 13 year old ... or a redundant repackage of a small number of classic albums from the 60's or 70's that I already own.

I still buy CDs, but I'm grateful to find that there's still a million interesting unexplored things and blogs are a way to explore the divergent paths that catch my interest.

I love that someone has to be passionate enough to think that an item is worth posting. No one blogs the clunkers!

Regarding the prices going up, yes, I'm sorry, it's me. Last week I bid on eBay for a CD reissue of the Archaia album (which I'd already downloaded off Mutant Sounds) and it eventually went to someone else for $US105!

But it's funny to read this contradictory argument about the bad effects of downloading music: everyone says it's destroying the market AND it's pushing the prices up (?!) Hopefully the high prices will prompt someone to consider reissuing. Is that so crazy? I'd be up for a Kirlian Camera CD reissue (but I'm not holding my breath while I wait).

Keep up the good work

Graham

You are 100% right!!! It is important to post only releases which are out of stock. For me you're blog is a great inspiration and I really love the music. Mayby is it also a good idea to post some articles of releases that we can buy today without a downloadlink so we can buy it? For me it will be great I buy allot of CD's so tips are welcome!!! :)

Keep up the good work!!!

it's ok to only post things that are out of print. but i DO think that you are being a little bit of a fascist here...

i'm one of those newbie kids that download some "data files" and call themselves musical experts.

well... I know i'm not an expert but i don't see the bad side about a new generation of non-commercial music lovers beeing born.

i mean i live in a third world country where anything not belonging to MTV or VH1 ever comes to be famous or renown, so my cultural self (and beeing a music lover that could be translated to my complete self) can only be constructed from what you and other saints/bloggers share with me.

and man that's a lot!!!

consider that you are building and changing a part of MY life!!! only by posting.

so if the prices of albums are rising... let them rise! you are helping to educate a new generation here! you are even a rebel and a revolutionary spreading culture and fighting ignorance!

so if you are loosing monopoly over magical music do it with love!!

keep up the good work and please don't get angry with those who redistribute your knowledge, those who do it without thanking you are just beeing suckers, but those thanking you are just promoters.

culture belongs to everyone!!

ps. i have to confess that i have also reposted albums in my own blog thanking the original poster of course, but i did it only with the hope that people of my country (80% of them don't know english, and if i told you which percentage don't even know how to read you'll be surprised) could get access to it.

i've read you getting angry before, and it just makes me sad because i think you JUST DON'T REALIZE HOW MUCH GOOD YOUR DOING TO YOUNGSTERS LIKE ME AND A LITTLE PART OF MANKIND.

cheers.

oh dear...
there's nothing we can do about redistributing stuff that we've just ripped, and because 'people are people' it's impossible to teach everyone how to be humble and how to respect others. I was pissed off just as much as you were, but the appreciation from other visitors has shown me that my work is truly important and that I can't just stop posting - that's what really matters.
There's no glory without a sacrifice ;)
Keep up your work!
